Yaya's Buttermilk Biscuits
This recipe has been a family favorite for many years. I made a couple tweaks so it’s a little more nutritious. These biscuits are made from fresh milled flour!
Ingredients:
2.5 cups freshly milled flour (soft white or hard white wheat berries)
¼ tsp baking soda
3 tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
⅓ cup butter
¾ cup buttermilk (add more if dough seems dry)
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Gradually add the buttermilk, mixing until a soft dough forms. If the dough feels dry, add a bit more buttermilk.
Roll out the dough on a floured surface and cut into biscuits using a round cutter or the rim of a glass.
Place biscuits on a baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown.
Serve warm with your soup!
